Trying to control your dog when he/she hasn’t learned obedience commands is not fun at all and often can’t be done! There are only 5 steps to basic dog obedience training and these 5 steps will make a world of difference!
Now when starting the basics with a puppy, you must be patient because, their attention span is about two seconds!
I will take you through each step and have a video guiding you so don’t worry if you are a beginner……we will get through this together and and the end of the 5th step you will have a happy obedient friend for life!

Remember, these are just the basics! If you want to take your dog to the levels beyond the basic obedience training, we will get into that in a later post.
The first thing you will want to do is get some treats. The kind of treats you choose will be up to you! I would suggest that you have plenty on hand because these are the focus of getting your dog to do anything. Your dog will begin to associate good behavior with Treats !
Now, some breeds are stubborn! (HaHa) Believe me, I know! But that just means you have to keep at it and you will feel more of a sense of accomplishment when you see you dog succeed! Don’t give up because a well trained dog makes for a happy dog. Show your dog love and patience and you will a companion for life!
